Blossom Hill Foundation is so proud of the work our grantees led last year. Each organization has made great strides in the critical programs that they are offering, and often times under very stressful circumstances. Here are a few of our grantees in countries as far afield as Nicaragua, Turkey and the Ukraine. While each community presents unique needs and each is experiencing different levels of conflict, all programs are engaging in vital work for the next generation to not only heal the wounds of war and conflict, but more importantly to foster a spirit of optimism for change.
Through renewed support from the Blossom Hill Foundation -- and you -- our grantee, Karam will be opening two community centers in Turkey. These centers will serve the Syrian refugee community by offering educational programs, access to technology training, art classes as well as social-emotional counseling and medical and dental care. In case you missed it, here is a video from a November site visit, conducted by our Board member Reza Sayah.
Setting Up Camp -- For Good
NIcaPhoto, which started in 2005 as a series of workshops to bring creative arts to disadvantaged youth in Nicaragua, has grown into a comprehensive educational and arts program. The program offers academic support in essential subjects such as mathematics, Spanish, health and personal development. Also, NicaPhoto has its own organic garden, which provides not only food for daily nourishing meals to the children, it offers a hands-on platform for teaching gardening.
In 2015 NicaPhoto met a long-standing goal. The organization successfully purchased land to create a NicaPhoto campus, housing academics, art and dance and gardening in one site. A single campus in Nicaragua was once just a dream, but now it is a reality and a stepping stone for expanding services. Congratulations, NicaPhoto!

With support from Blossom Hill, in 2015 the Power of Goodness launched workshops in the Ukraine, offering essential therapeutic healing and dialogue to help youth learn how to cope with the stress of living in the harsh climate of war and furthermore to learn how create a culture of peace.
